Google WiFi: Google put about 400 wireless Internet hotspots around hometown Mountain View, Calif., (see map above) and now provides about 90% of the city with free wi-fi. A pilot of sorts for bigger municipal wi-fi networks Google was sponsoring -- a business model that's mostly dead now. Launched Sept. 2005; Google promises to keep it active until 2010.

Google.org: Google's philanthropic arm. Founded after the company's IPO in 2004, active. It's committed more than $85 million in grants.

Grants: Get free AdWords ads if you're a non-profit organization. Google says it's awarded free AdWords advertising to "hundreds of non-profit groups whose missions range from animal welfare to literacy," etc.

Gapminder: Graph various data collected by countries (life expectancy, income, etc.). Google bought in May 2007, active. Another one of Google's little-known products that should get more exposure.
