I believe the sources are saying that the event will be ipod focused. And that the macbooks will be announced at a seperate event later in the month or even October. So there will be no
need for a guessing game.

We've all seen the ipod nano 4g cases on the net so that announcement of a ipod nano 4g with the tall screen is almost certain.
And we all expect slight upgrades to the ipod touch. And there will be most likely itunes updates.

And thats it. It won't be a very exciting event.

I think the nano is the best product apple has. Bigger screen would be nice. If the lower the price of the ipod touch that could kill the nano though.

I hope they don't give the iPod touch a plastic back- I can understand why they had to do it on the iPhone, but the metal back looks so much better, and the touch gets WiFi reception fine anyway.

A special event for minor updates to the iPod? I don't think so. They have to completely reposition the iPod, so it becomes a compelling purchase. They can add a camera (video? Higher res?) and a GPS chip. But, would that be enough?

Re-read his Steveness appearence at D5 (who was that other guy sitting aside him... ; ) ), three words pop into mind:

I mostly doubt, 'just hardware' is a reason ... SJ's personal involvement (for how long I'm now able to use it for free..?) with the embarressing launch of MobileMe indicates - for me - his interest in these three things.

keep in mind the i-phone is an i-pod if i have a phone i'm not likely to buy a pod. apple is not loosing i-pod sales and they are not slowing down they are being replaced by phone sales. like any tech product at some point prices go down as manufacturing equipment costs are recovered and what not.to put a fire under the i pod concept apple will have to be pretty clever. After all there's only so much room in my pocket and i only have 2 ears. wi-fi nano? i dare you

I think "let's rock" is a collaborative effort with Sirius XM to provide satellite to Apple users. Why else make such a big deal about a new and improved listening device? Not really too much more that can be added to near perfect machines except speed and size.

I hope that it now will be to integrate commercial-less radio.
