Google Finance Adding More Data, But Still Behind The Competition (GOOG)

money-pile.jpgGoogle (GOOG) is adding historical data and company filings to its Google Finance site, Bloomberg reports. These features -- like the real-time quotes Google added earlier this month -- are a nice upgrade, but probably won't help take much market share away from its competitors at Yahoo (YHOO), AOL (TWX), and MSN (MSFT).

Two years after its launch, Google Finance attracted 1 million unique U.S. visitors last month -- 22nd place among financial Web sites, according to comScore. Top-ranked Yahoo Finance garnered 18.5 million uniques last month; second-place AOL attracted 15 million, and third-place MSN had almost 14 million.

Google has been very competitive in most facets of their operations and yet, their finance website really stinks. What's up with that? It looks easy to fix. Anyone know of any other Google businesses that comparatively speaking stink as much?

- Blogger.com - terrible compared to other platforms
- Google Base - POS
- Google Analytics - it doesn't work
- Orkut
- Talk

i hope that google continues to fund the finance team. i certainly have enjoyed the graphing features that they introduced. Yahoo pulled a M$ copying MAC, by copying the Google interface them within a few weeks. The chart interface has been a huge improvement over anything that was publicly available on the web.
