Hmm.... As a business-owner, I think it was a good idea.

So long as app developers pay for featured listings, but there are basic & relevant listings for everyone else based on search criteria - like a really expensive version of AdWords, which has been a runaway success...and the price will probably come down, over time, to a level that's more in line with a realistic ROI.

The featured listings, so long as they're transparent (again, like AdWords), should be a successful way to monetize some of MySpace's crazy traffic juice. But if they end up polluting their App Search and betraying users' trust (i.e. AltaVista, etc. in the pre-Google days), then they'll regret it... And will go the way of AltaVista, etc.

On the other hand, as a developer, who like to work on side-projects on my dining room table, it makes me a little worried that my hobby days may be numbered.
