GodTube Gets $30 Million

Let us pray: Christian video sharing site GodTube has landed a $30 million series A from hedge fund GLG Partners at a $150 million valuation, according to our friends at PaidContent.

Launched last summer, GodTube reviews all video uploads, keeping them squeaky-clean and pro-God. (Like our favorite, "Baby Got Book," embedded below.)

It also claims to have a business model beyond advertising: PC says "a few hundred churches" use GodTube's "Godcaster" service, which generates subscription revenue.

The LA Times noted last fall GodTube had 1.7 million unique users in August, and was the fastest growing video site in the Web, per comScore. It looks like GodTube hasn't done much growing since then.

@Jonathan: What's so scary about Christians? If there is a Scientology-only video website what does that matter to me? USA = Freedom of speech right? Just wondering :).

@Sam: I believe Mitt Romney is Mormon. I'd agree however that Mitt is a good businessman, seems like a cool guy and he is probably a man of integrity. Anyone who works hard and honest for their money deserves it no matter what their outlook on life.

It's pretty scary to think that some of you are scared of Christians taking over America. America was founded and based from Christianity. Why do you think our currency says "In God We Trust," oh yeah and it's on the Declaration of Independence to. Hmm, is it Christians taking over America or is it the secular world trying to take over Christianity? One day you will all stand in judgement whether you believe it or not.

...How would you stand in judgement if you don't believe...? In all honesty, I think Christianity has the least amount of power now than ever. Though not enforced very well, there is a seperation of church and state... which if anybody knows their history, did not exist for quite a bit of time, including when this country was founded. I think things have come a long way... though there's still plenty of room for improvement.
