ABC.com Tries More Ads For "Desperate Housewives"

ABC's competitors will be watching closely. Most are restricting shows to a single sponsor, with one ad per break. In March, Hulu ad sales chief Jean-Paul Colaco explained: "My sense right now is they [the users] are not ready for multiple ads per stream. There are too many ways to click away."
ABC's proprietary video player, which is distributed at ABC.com, AOL and on the Web sites of local ABC stations, prohibits fast-forwarding through ads. ABC allows its local affilates to sell a spot, in addition to the national sponsor.
For "shorts", I don't see it working. Why isn't there more postroll today for short vids online?
if you want to watch Desperate Housewives and are too cheap to pay $2 for the pleasure, you might sit through one minute of ads.
Whoever started this meme that you can't put more than one ad in a video stream is a diabolical genius.
Sure you can't put two ads in front of a CNN story about the price of gas or a youtube video of someone taking a football to the groin but for prime time television i bet you could go for two whole minutes four times an hour. You'd still have half as many ads as tv.
Re: postroll - tough sell to advertisers, for understandable reasons. Hearing some positive feedback about 5-second or less pre-roll -- "this clip brought to you by x" -- coupled with postroll. Onion and Collegehumor are doing.
Everytime I watch a program on ABC.com 70% of the time I am served not an ad but a promo for ABC shows.
