CNBC: First in Seth Tobias Worldwide

We like watching CNBC's business coverage as much as the next folks. But based on our reader-comment box, we aren't the only ones who feel CNBC is treating its ex-frequent-guest Seth Tobias pretty shabbily.

Yes, inquiring minds want to know how the former hedge-fund manager ended up face down in his swimming pool. But, for us, CNBC's endless on-air conversations, investigations, and interviews surrounding this question in the months after Seth's death were enough, and we could have done without the "FOR THE LOVE OF MONEY: THE DEATH OF SETH TOBIAS" Special Report that will be broadcast ad nauseam this month. We also don't really feel like clicking on the conversations between "The Wife" and "Billy the Internet Psychic" featured so prominently on CNBC's web site.

Disclosure: I met with Seth a few times in the late 1990s, and we exchanged emails in the past year.

I agree! I thought the show was in really bad taste. Plus they had guys on there that they used in the past and they told a different story. The manager of the gay bar told The New York Times Seth was in there all the time, and The Times was on CNBC talking about it yet Scott Cohn never questioned the guy why the story changed. The car guy Filomena had forged Seth's name to buy a Porche off of him and CNBC held the papers up on there special that says that. He's a great witness. The cop said the crushed ambien was pulled from Seth's safe but the search warrent says it was pulled from Filomena's safe. It's really a sad situation. It's really sad that CNBC would do this to one of there own, or that they would have a guy on with this kind of personal life.

After meeting both of the Tobias"s I am very sure she could have killed Seth. She was a nasty nasty woman with no class. I think if you could ask anyone of her 3 x's and they would agree. How did she get away with this? Seth did some things that were wrong but he did not have to die for 25 mill. I hope one day the truth comes out!

CNBC did a great job with there reporting! The Truth eventually comes out and it did! If she did something, she would of been behind bars. Thats the outcome of a habitual user if you need to speak to someone or someone close to you has a problem please call 1800-453-2124 before it to late!

Easy to comment like ANY of you know them or what actually happened! The show was proof that Billy Ash and the whole situation is a joke! Not only did his brothers distroy his name but they are doing a poor job of trying to win his money.

the thing that pointed to guilt for me was when ash asked her (taped call) if she was sure there was no trace of anything (ambien) was on the pasta plate after she washed it. she said "positively".

I'm glad you wrote this post - I felt the same way when I saw the show. While I admittedly did watch it, it's unfortunate that CNBC would exploit a former friend's death in such a salacious way.

The thing that proved to me that she killed him was when the Internet Psychic asked her did she make sure everything was washed off the plate and she said yes she made sure. I also looked at passed shows and the manager of the gay bar said he knew both of them well but on this special changed his story. Hmmmm, sounds like she did it. I do feel it's unfortunate that CNBC would report in such a way when they claim he was a friend.

Filomena, Bill Ash says any place, any time, you both pick who will give the polygragh, you both do it on national TV, you both are asked the same questions. Filomena, Billy knows where you got the crushed ambien CR, how you paid for it, and who sent it to you. I'd be very careful and stay hiding if I was you! I think it is sad how you all talk about these people like you know them. Let the poor man rest in Peace already. His family are a bunch of slime balls, calling him gay and going along with that fat psychic. What family does that. Let the woman grieve her husband and be keep the BS to yourselves. If she did something she would be behind bars, do you think the police dept. would cover up for her, come on lets be real.
