PaidContent Blog on Block?
Is LA-based blog PaidContent frantically trying to sell itself before TechCrunch, et al, render it irrelevant? TechCrunch says "yes." PaidContent says "no". You be the judge.
We don't have any inside info here, but we can't help but note that PaidContent's denial was written in a, well, pissy, tone. We also can't help but wonder if that attitude has anything to do with this:

i don't think it's fair to compare PC with TC or SAI-- PC really caters to a much smaller group of media industry insiders. tech news is accessible to a much larger potential group of readers.
Agree w/ none's pt on TC audience vs. the other two though. Arrington however corrupt and insufferable.
1.) Libel, Defamatory, Slander.
2.) Ruin some hardworking startups repulations
3.) Putting deadpool
4.) Supports Porns & zavity ( hurting adverstiers)
5.) Sometimes, they ease sponsors' comments.
6.) They can't even afford high speed server.
7.) Running page load. Extreme slow.
8.) Sometimes, they show IP addresses on posts
9.) It's too many "sins"; inside techcrunch
10.)Why attack Wikia, Rivals.com, Mylivesearch, all startups and putting people to ignore?
My friend who works Adsense technology. He don't trust Techcrunch. They don't always follow adsense TOS.

TC's gone the ValleyWag route lately with shades of FC.com thrown in for good measure (the deadpool? most of the time they're trashing startups that no one - that is, no one who doesn't live in the Alley or the Valley - has even heard of - nice stuff) and my question is, who cares?
It's like taking TMZ.com seriously because oh my, they have such high page views. Well, of course they do. Everything they write or write about is trash. There's a direct correlation between amount of trash to amount of page views.
The reason these sites matter is not for their accuracy or excellent content or kind handling of others - it's because in spite of how bad they are they still get a lot of visitors, a lot of backlinks, good SERP and PR, and are highly monetizable if anyone can figure out a way to make money off of the ads that everyone either tunes out or AdBlocks. Those are the only reasons why anyone cares how sites like TC do (hmm, and I just answered my own question).
