PaidContent Shakeup! Hiring Management, Rafat To Editorial*

|

rafatali.jpgLA-based blog PaidContent.org is hiring a Dow Jones and Yahoo Finance veteran, Nathan Richardson, as CEO, Valleywag says. The company is also said to be adding a sales manager. Founder Rafat Ali will focus on editorial.

It is not yet known whether the PaidContent management shakeup is a planned evolution--or whether Rafat was defenestrated. ; )

*UPDATE: This post was intended to be tongue in cheek, but as a commenters noted, the first version came out snarky. Apologies! Truth be told, we think this is a smart move by PaidContent. Rafat is the company's strongest editor/writer, and every minute he spends on business is a minute lost to writing, researching, etc. TechCrunch made the same move quite successfully last year, and we expect a lot of growing blog networks will follow suit.

Rafat is a lot classier than you, arrington and denton, as is his blog than to write this kind of mudslinging that you have put together.

You didn't like the winking emoticon?

Re: ClassAct

I would say that all of Arrington, Rafat, Denton, and -- yes -- Blodget have their foibles.

I am listing them, however, in my personally observed/experienced declining order of objectionability. And there is a grand canyon of objectionable behavior between Rafat and Denton.

(I admit that I don't find either of the last two all that objectionable, although I could see how others might. Might be an East Coast / West Coast, Tupac / Biggie thing.)

I'd be happy to break it down for you if you need further info.

@ John C Smith - It's worth checking whether you saw the initial entry, which was even nastier/snarkier than the now-edited version.

I generally agree with your assessment, but found this post out of line. Classact was right to call it out.

Uh oh. Then I blew it. Was intended to be amusing...

Henry, this was funny. Don't let these emoticon-ignoring, sensitive-sallies knock you off your game!

Thanks, Nate. Upon rereading, I think I was a bit tone-deaf on this one. I thought it was obvious this was a smart move for PC.

Could have gone either way... oh well.

Why hasn't PC posted about the new CEO?

Or did they and I missed it.

I agree that it's a good hire. Although not a clear step up for Richardson. I thought he was working for the common good in Liberia or somewhere anyway?
