Jon Stewart Fixes The Economy In 2.5 Minutes

|

stewart economy.jpgTypically we like to justify running a video clip by offering some insightful commentary about the business of online video or somesuch. Screw that. Here's the best couple of minutes of Jon Stewart's awesome economy rant last night, courtesy of Hulu (great editing feature on Hulu, btw).

Hulu still doesn't allow people outside the US to watch their stuff. Awesome.

If they're going to compete with the pirates, they have to be at least as useful as them.

@chris that link doesn't work in Canada.

I've been able to watch the Daily Show in the UK using Hotspot Shield:

Annoying to run, though, as it slows down web browsing (it runs an ad banner at the top of your window), so I save all my viewing for pre-shutdown time.

Great that we've got so many international readers. As always, its hard to beat on Hulu and the rest of the U.S. video players who don't provide international streams: Licensing, advertising and cost issues are an unpleasant combination. That said: Viacom, News Corp, NBC -- you've got plenty of people outside the US who want to watch what you have. Can you help them out?

Excellent clip Hulu, thanks! And thanks to Jon Stewart's show and putting out the days Congress gets off while our economy is in crisis! Most of us who work regular jobs have to come in regardless of the day when our company has a crisis...funny how our elected leaders take off and are getting paid to be off during a time like this...

I came across this and had some laughs. I wonder if you made comments about Pelosi's ignorant comments about blaming the republicans in congress for not passing this thing.

She basically took the opportunity be on the grandstand to bash republicans, while doing so hurting the process of getting this bill passed.

The House has a majority, Nancy! Wake up!

to wade: the repubs are a bunch of whiny douchebags...the use of pelosi's rant was nothing more than the blame game...politics as usual in washington.

america wake and git rid of them all!

in all honesty, and i mean complete honesty, wouldnt you prefer a stewart/colbert white house to a mccain/palin one? the possibility of the second one seriously frightens me. like not american grudge frighten, but original japanese grudge frighten. im freaking pale from fright.

Why don't you take hat 700 billion dollars and distribute it out to the general public over 18 years of age evenly. I'm sure they would pay the taxes on it & spend most of he rest of it on products. That way, we know that the money will bring the sales up & get the economy going again, instead of putting the money into the already rich peoples hands, so they can raise interest rates & charge us more for things we can not afford. So.we don't buy & the economy still gets worse.

I used to watch the daily show years ago and i swear it didn't pander so blatantly to the left. watching it now is like listening to rush limbaugh. not funny - just "us vs. them".

if he keeps this trend up, he's going to alienate his audience down to a tiny scrabble of hard-core political lefties and lose all his political clout.

Let's all go to our windows throw them open and scream repeatedly, "I'm mad as hell and I'm not gonna take it anymore"! Hey we are the ones who keep voting these rascals into office. If America just would have the 'Cojones' to vote all incumbants out of office and replace them with a bunch of Newbies, could we do any worse?
And now the good news, seems that firearms and ammunition sales are going ballistic. I'm glad someone is doing well;-)

Even if you don't agree with it, it is very funny. (Though I do agree that it's stupid that they broke for a religious holiday. At least they had the sense to vote DOWN the bill a few days ago.. unfortunately they passed it today.)

I disagree with TONS of what the Daily Show says (and agree with _some_ of what Colbert mockingly believes), but think both shows are hilarious. It's really a shame that both of those _comedy_ shows are the only place where politician hypocrisy is shown consistently (e.g. video days apart of the same politician saying exactly opposite things). The nightly news & newspapers should be pointing out those kinds of things.
