Directors Cut Deal With Studios

|

The Directors Guild of America has reached a tentative deal with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers and our early read on the deal points is that there are things here for the writers to like, but not enough for the Writers Guild of America to call off the strike, now it its 11th week. The WGA has not yet commented on the deal.

Deal points, via Hollywood Reporter:

- the union gets jurisdiction over original content produced for the web
- doubles current residuals for TV downloads, and boosts film download residual by 80%
- $600 payment for internet streaming after 17, followed by additional payments after 26 weeks capped at $1,200 per year
